Response to Criteria #1 Infrastructure

    1. Strategy (12.5%): Description: What is your strategy for utilising an existing or newly proposed infrastructure? How does it influence the way you design an architectural entity and how it improves the way politicians, governmental institutions and others offer and people access parliamentary and/or governmental services?

    2. Logistics (12.5%): Has the logistics been considered and well incorporated in the design?
      Description: Your design is required to respond to changing needs. Whether it is an instantaneous, temporary or long-term change, it is needed to be a part of your design consideration. How is your architectural entity designed to change, move, shift, transform, adapt, interact, etc.? Where do components and/or information stored? Where are they generated or manufactured and delivered?

  • Distribution
    The module, mobile structure will be transported by rail for long distances and truck within smaller regions, utilising a crane at each end of the process.  The hive structure will be able to be assembled, be a temporary installation and be disassembled with the core structure being re-distributed to the next city.  Each hive pod will have a garden box that can be removed and distributed to local community homes or community gardens, with fully established vegetable gardens (requiring a truck and forklift).

    Method to improve the way people have access parliamentary and/or governmental services?

    The method of a mobile, distributed sysetem means that the education system is distributed to peoples home town.  Because it is a temporal event and the people can watch the process of growing the food, partake in the process and potentially go home with their own established garden, it is an active way for the Government to inspire healty, sustainable lifestyles, communicated in a style that is unique, fun and experiential.  It is an investment into the future of the Australian economy and into individual peoples health.

    Utilise Existing Infrastructure

    How does Infrastructure & Distribution influence design of structure?

    Birds eye view: 3 pods shipped per container
    Elevation: 3 pods per shipping containter
    The size of each pod is limited to the internal size of the shipping containter:
    L=12.01m, W= 2.33m, H= 2.31m
    Hence, the pod will be shipped in 2 sections, allowing 3 pods to be shipped per container.
    The size of the pod needs a person to be able to walk through it, considering the flat surface of the floor: Head height = Min 2.2m

    How is your architectural entity designed to change, move, shift, transform, adapt, interact?
